Express Overnight is for shipments that cannot wait for a multi-day ground window. The package is scanned at pickup or drop-off, sorted on the night network, and tendered for next-business-day delivery in metros where the service is published.
The commitment is tied to origin, destination, and the cutoff printed on your receipt. Miss the cutoff and the shipment moves on the following night sort. Weekend and holiday calendars are shown at booking so the delivery day is not assumed.
Use Express for contracts, replacement parts, legal documents, and inventory that a customer is waiting on. If the destination is in the same metro and must arrive today, use Same-Day Metro instead.

- The origin and destination are in published overnight lanes.
- You can meet the pickup or drop-off cutoff.
Choose another service when
- The package can take several days — use Ground.
- Pickup and delivery are in the same metro today — use Same-Day Metro.
- The destination is outside the country — use International Export.
Size, Weight, and Cutoff
Limits below are the default Express Overnight envelope and parcel rules. Oversize freight is booked as a freight shipment, not a parcel.
- Maximum weight
- 150 lb (68 kg) per package. Heavier pieces move as freight.
- Maximum size
- Length plus girth typically up to 165 in. Confirm at rating if the carton is irregular.
- Cutoff
- Shown at booking by ZIP code. Pickup routes and drop-off centers have different last-scan times.
- Packaging
- Use a rigid carton or document envelope. Liquids, batteries, and restricted goods need extra declaration.
