Your California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the CPRA gives you rights in personal information Vandelta collects as a business. This page explains those rights in operational language and how to use them. It works together with the Privacy Notice.
Who this page is for
This page applies to personal information about a California resident that Vandelta collects as a business: website visitors, account contacts, shippers and consignees on a U.S. record, and job applicants who apply through our U.S. sites. It does not turn Vandelta into the “business” for data we only process as a service provider for a retailer (for example, a Happy Returns scan that we handle under that retailer’s instructions). In that case, send the request to the retailer as well; we will support them as the contract requires.
Employees and individual contractors in California have a separate workforce notice. This page is for consumers and business contacts in the ordinary shipping relationship.
Your rights
Right to know
You may ask what categories of personal information we collected about you, the sources, the business or commercial purposes, the categories of third parties we disclose to, and the specific pieces we hold, as the statute allows. We will not provide a snapshot that would reveal another person’s information (for example, every consignee on your corporate account) without a process that protects those people.
Right to delete
You may ask us to delete personal information we collected from you, subject to exceptions. We keep what the law or the shipping contract requires: waybills, customs filings, invoices, claims files, and fraud records for their retention periods. Deleting a marketing email is not the same as deleting a tracking history for a shipment that already moved.
Right to correct
You may ask us to correct inaccurate personal information we hold. Address-book and account profile fields are corrected fastest inside the signed-in account. Legal name or tax identity on a brokerage file may need documents.
Right to opt out of sale or sharing
California law defines “sale” and “sharing” more broadly than a cash purchase of a list. Sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising can count. Vandelta does not sell your postal address list as a product. We do use certain advertising and analytics cookies and partners that may be “sharing” under CPRA. You may opt out on Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. We also honor a recognized Global Privacy Control signal in this browser as an opt-out of sale and sharing for that browser.
Right to limit use of sensitive personal information
Sensitive information (for example, account login, precise geolocation from a handheld only where we collect it, or government ID for customs) is used to provide the service, prevent fraud, and meet the law. We do not use it to build an advertising profile. If we ever use sensitive information for a purpose that requires a “limit” right, that control will appear here and in Cookie Settings.
Right of non-discrimination
We do not deny shipping, charge a different published rate, or lower service because you exercised a CCPA right. If a financial incentive program exists (for example, a discount for joining a mailing list), we will describe the material terms before you join, and you may withdraw.
Categories we collect (California lookback)
In the prior 12 months we have collected, and disclosed for business purposes, the categories below, as applicable to you. Details sit in the Privacy Notice.
| Category | Examples in this business | Sold / shared? |
|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Name, postal address, email, phone, account ID, IP address, tracking number | Sharing possible via ads cookies; not sold as a list |
| Commercial information | Services bought, invoice history, claims | No |
| Internet activity | Pages on vandelta.com, tool use, cookie IDs | Sharing possible via analytics and ads cookies |
| Geolocation | Origin and destination you enter; scan location of a package | No |
| Professional information | Employer, role, dock hours for pickup | No |
| Inferences | Service mix on an account for operations planning | No |
| Sensitive (limited) | Account login; customs ID where the law requires it | No |
How to submit a request
Use one of these methods. We will verify you before we release or delete data.
- Signed-in account holders: send the request from the email on the account through Contact Us, topic Other, and name the right you want to use.
- Opt-out of sale or sharing: Do Not Sell or Share form, or enable Global Privacy Control in your browser.
- Authorized agent: the agent must present your signed permission. We may still verify you directly. We will not honor an agent request that is only a purchased lead list.
We respond within the time the statute allows, usually 45 days, with one extension when the request is complex. If we cannot verify you, we will say so and will not disclose the file.
California “Shine the Light”
Civil Code section 1798.83 allows certain California customers to ask whether we disclosed personal information to third parties for those parties’ direct marketing. Vandelta does not disclose customer postal or email lists to unaffiliated companies for their own direct marketing. Cookie-based advertising is handled through Cookie Settings and the Do Not Sell page, not through a rented mail file.
This page is an explanation of rights, not legal advice. The Privacy Notice is the fuller description of processing.
